If you would’ve told me a few years ago I’d be deep into collecting diecast cars and trucks, I wouldn’t have believed you. As a kid, I was big into baseball cards—that was my thing. Diecast collecting wasn’t even on my radar growing up.
That all changed about two years ago.
I bought someone’s diecast collection with the simple intent to flip it for profit. That was the whole plan—just a good resale hustle. But as I started going through the cars, something clicked. The colors, the details, the weight in your hand—man, I got hooked fast. I caught what I call the “Got Wheels bug.” Next thing I knew, I wasn’t just selling—I was collecting for myself too.
Over time, this turned into something way more meaningful than just a side hustle. I started noticing the joy on people’s faces when they’d pick up a car or truck from me—especially the nostalgic stuff. I’ve even found myself buying cars to resell that I knew wouldn’t make a profit—because I knew someone out there would love it. That’s what really got me: the joy these little cars can bring.
Now, Poppa Lewis Collectibles isn’t just about selling. It’s about keeping diecast cars out of dusty boxes and forgotten garages. It’s about rescuing used and damaged cars, cleaning them up, and giving them a second life. Some might see a beat-up Hot Wheels as trash—but I see potential. I love bringing those cars back, giving them another shot to shine in someone else’s collection.
And for the record—yes, I’m also a huge pullback diecast lover. There’s something about those little cars zooming across the floor that still brings out the kid in me.
This blog is where I’ll be sharing the journey—new cars that come in, cool finds, stories from the hunt, collector tips, and honest reviews. Whether you’re a long-time collector or just getting started, I hope you find something here that brings back that spark.
Thanks for stopping by. Let’s keep those wheels rollin’.
